you’ve seen crazy heart. you’re eating organic food and you’re shopping locally… you’re bringing back the farm, or at least an idyllic version of it, sans the 5am rooster. we think state fairs and we think apple pie, show hens and blue ribbons. some of the earliest american state fairs were made possible under directives from the British crown, ordering and sanctioning the trade and sale of livestock and it’s a very short leap from state fairs to silk road trade routes back in the day when it would take a week to grow enough to sell on market day. as state fairs fill with educational booths and agribusiness adventure stands what do we do with things like 4-H and award winning pickles?
