Lechmere Station Lies at the end of the MBTA Green Line, thereby providing a connection to the greater Boston area. The proposal for this transit hub reconfigures the crowded field at ground level as it currently exists into a double field condition connected by calibrated circulation funnels. This procedure frees the ground from program, allowing for expansive views and a duality of covered and uncovered spaces. The varying typologies of funnels range from efficient circulation to singer user experiences, which are dispersed performatively throughout the site. The structure consists of a steel ribbed frame with a double layered composite material forming the surface to achieve a continuity and fluidity that begins to blur the boundaries between interior and exterior. Through a broader lens, the project intends to unpack the plasticity inherent in new paradigms of figuration in design and emergent construction and fabrication processes.

I like the way this ‘proposal for this transit hub’ visually mirrors something like a car body growing parks & wildlife. Very interesting work.
