One that got away, a sweet and gemmy specimen of cobaltoan calcite from Morocco, seen at the Flagg Gem and Mineral Show in Mesa this weekend. This large rock and gem show with tailgate/parking lot vendors is huge and the crowds are enormous as well. Anyone in the Phoenix area may enjoy coming out all day today, Sunday to the Mesa Community College.
Of course I had to add another fine cobalt specimen to my own collection, and I did find one I could afford later on as I made it to about 200 vendor booths with camera and grandkids in tow. When I am ready to start photographing all my new “Precious”, there will be many additions to the set with my own collection. Since I’m fascinated with cobalt blue, hence my nickname, here is an extensive wiki article on the subject of cobalt. And a link to other cobaltoan calcite specimens currently advertising around the world through minfind.com, a great online resource.
