Staff at Tarmac’s Bedhampton Wharf UK discovered these parts of an oil lamp with aggregate dredged from the South Coast region. One part is engraved with The Waterbury Corp: Brass Good. This is likely to refer to The Waterbury Button Company, an American company founded in 1812, which mainly produced stamped metal buttons. During World War 2 they made a range of good for the Allied forces from buttons to bomb fuses, including oil lamps.
This find was discovered by staff in the aggregate industry and reported through the Marine Aggregates Reporting Protocol.
